Bill Gates,
some people would argue that he is one of the most intelligent people on earth.
So, if this man is in fact as smart as he would have the world believe, being
the founder of Microsoft, don’t you think that he would be fairly up to date on
what’s happening in the world? I certainly
would, but he claimed that he knew nothing about rotavirus that kills half a
million children a year until 2006, when he started a charity for the children.
A bit fishy? I think so. I think that the truth is that he began this charity
to squash the bad reputation that his company gained through squashing several
small businesses on the way to the top.
Gates claimed that he simply
assumed governments would have given the vaccines out as freely as they
could. I wonder if he really assumed that African governments
could afford to give any vaccines. In a
country such as Africa, it is hard to feed a child, let alone give it proper
medical care. He has to have some grip
on economics especially since he is the head of such a large company, and that
would have included knowing at least something about foreign governments and
the financial situation of the people who live there.
Gates gave enough money to this
charity to support these children financially for several years, but the
vaccine would only have cost a fraction of this. He could have helped more children if only he
would have allowed the money to be spread out over more people. I also think that he focused on children
because of the idea that they have not lived full lives, but does that mean the
adult lives are that much less valuable?
So, we cannot assume that he was
doing this out of the good of his heart.
He very well may have, but he also gained points emotionally for his
company. However, we cannot know for
sure that he only did this for himself, or for his company. So, I gu3ess we
will have to be satisfied that no matter the intentions of the donations, many children
were helped in the process.
